IVC’s Dramaturgy Tournament Continues with Quarterfinals in Castelló

Culture of the Generalitat, through the Valencian Institute of Culture, presents this Wednesday the second round of the Dramaturgy Tournament organized by the Valencian Institute of Culture (IVC), which covers the entire Valencian territory.

This project was born within the prestigious Temporada Alta Festival in Girona 12 years ago by the playwright Jordi Casanovas, and in 2016 and 2017 he organized it in Valencia Creador.es, before the IVC took over.

The Valencian playwrights who will participate in this VII Dramaturgy Tournament are Isabel Caballero, Antonio Escámez, Marcos Luis Hernando, Isabel Martí, Tomàs Mestre, Eva Mir, David Sánchez Pacheco and Carmen Valera.

The public votes and the final is in Valencia

The authors will not meet the actors who will represent their text until two hours before the performance. The public is the one who will vote for the winning work in each phase: quarterfinals, semifinals and the grand finale, which will take place on June 18 at the Teatre Rialto de València, an exciting and addictive activity promoted by the IVC, in which eight playwrights -two from Castellón, two from Alicante and four from Valencia- will face off in pairs presenting texts of about 30 minutes, read by two professional actors or actresses in a boxing ring.

After a first match organized in Alicante, the second quarterfinal match takes place this Wednesday, at 7:00 p.m., at the Teatre Principal in Castelló. It will feature texts by Antonio Escámez, nicknamed ‘la rajoleta d’Onda’, and Marcos Luis Hernando, ‘el intensito de Carabanchel’. Admission is free until all places.
