“I realized at one point that the book should be called The ceiling. These poems are written at different stages of life, so many speak in their own, different voices, and when they are put together, they form a hive-like drone in my mind. It is such a warm polyphony, in some places it is loud, in other places – sharp. Also, “hive” means work for me – purposeful efforts and a sweet harvest – but, of course, it is a work that is not possible without stings, “says the author of the collection.
Ivars Šteinbergs has worked on the debut collection for a long time and carefully – the first poetry publications appeared already in 2012, earning the interest and recognition of his contemporaries.
Artis Ostups, editor of the collection: “Steinberg masters equally well the form of the article, in which he creates unusual combinations of images, and the narrative most characteristic of poetry. The author has a stylist talent: some texts and serious; in terms of content, the author focuses mainly on the themes of life and death and everyday weirdness.
The design of the collection was created by Armands Zelčs.
