  • After the action in Nexo, the possibility of realizing the third mandate has significantly decreased. The third mandate in the hands of the DB would be used to solve the problems with the prosecutor’s office, and for this reason this action was taken right now, said the co-chairman of “Democratic Bulgaria” Hristo Ivanov

He was born on September 13, 1974 in Sofia. Hristo Ivanov has a master’s degree in law from Sofia University in front of “Darik Radio”.

He called the situation a noisy PR campaign, which aims to make the support for a mandate of “Democratic Bulgaria” uncomfortable.

Asen Vasilev suspects a conspiracy between the action against Nexo and the handing over of the third mandate

Ivanov explained that the funding attacks are untenable, as there is no way to track every single donation to the party. The unshakable determination for constitutional change on the part of the DB has provoked the prosecutor’s office to act with such precise timing before handing over the mandate in order to protect the Chief Prosecutor Ivan Geshev. “There are things that, if we don’t do them now, it’s not clear when the next political window will be in which they can be implemented. These are the Eurozone, Schengen and the Recovery and Resilience Plan.”

“The question is not with which banknotes we will pay, but to be at the core of the planning of the great European financial policy. It is important that Bulgaria be at the table when the big decisions for Europe and its development begin to be made,” he said.

Hristo Ivanov answered whether DB received donations from Nexo

According to him, the problem with Schengen is that we are tied with Romania, but our neighbor is far ahead of us. It is not yet known how long we will go in a package with them, he added. From the point of view of citizens, Schengen is important for their free movement, but in depth it is a circle of trust for information sharing and general protection of national security, in which Bulgaria is not allowed, he continued. Europe will still have to seriously upgrade its national security system, and Schengen is a foundation on which it will build. Being trusted there means being an important part of the security zone and not watching the processes from the sidelines.
