A former girlfriend of Ivanka Trump outlines Vanity Fair a devastating picture of the daughter of the American president.

“ We met at a girls’ school on the Upper East Side (an upscale neighborhood in Manhattan, New York, ed.) And we were inseparable for over a decade, ” writes Lysandra Ohrstrom in Vanity Fair. Gradually, we grew apart because of our differences. “Why are you recommending me a book about fucking poor people?” She once asked.

According to Ohrstrom, who was also a bridesmaid at Ivanka Trump’s wedding in 2009, her then-girlfriend had the hunger for money and fame in common with her father Donald Trump from an early age. “She had the Trump radar for status, money and power and her father’s instinct to throw others under a bus to save herself,” she writes.
During their friendship, Ohrstrom sometimes bumped into Donald Trump as well. He almost completely ignored me, except to ask if Ivanka was the prettiest or most popular girl in our class. (…) Although he never remembered my name, he seemed to have a photographic memory of changes in my body. ‘
After Ivanka’s marriage to Jared Kushner, their friendship faded, says Ohrstrom, who has worked as a journalist in Lebanon.
When Ivanka Trump joined the White House with her father, Ohrstrom expected she would temper Trump’s “racist tendencies.” “Not for moral reasons, but because locking up young children and tearing up a global climate agreement does not sound well in the corridors of Davos.”
She says she was disgusted when it turned out that Ivanka did not speak out publicly against her father’s ‘disgusting policy choices’. She thinks that this has tarnished her carefully constructed image.
Ohrstrom realizes that her story will be criticized. That she will be accused of trying to exploit her friendship with Ivanka Trump and that she comes across as a hypocrite from a privileged background. It’s the reason why she hasn’t told her story before. “But my dislike for the Trumps has outweighed my fear of being dragged through the mud.”
