In 1983, a Belarusian native was sentenced to three years in prison, despite fellow actors, for financing the construction of a house through illegal financial transactions.
Staying behind bars signed the famous actor, leaving him in poor health and mental condition. After his release, he continued to have health problems and was unable to find work.
After the collapse of the Soviet Union, he received a state decoration from the Russian Federation. He received it in 1999, and died four years later in Moscow. He was 66 years old.
