The news that Ivana Trump had passed away, was received with shock by everyone who knew her. She was only 73 years old, and as recently as the day before she had just had a better meal at her favorite restaurant.
Once at home, she allegedly felt ill and fell down the long stairs. When she was found, life was not to be saved.
– I am devastated after my mother passed away. She was brilliant, charming, passionate and incredibly funny. She lived life to the fullest – and never gave up an opportunity to laugh and dance, her daughter Ivanka wrote on Twitter.
Familiar madam
As a young woman, Ivana had a promising career as an alpinist. She left Czechoslovakia in 1971, and first made a living as a ski instructor in Austria and Canada before a modeling career took her to New York.
Here she met Donald Trump, whom she married in 1977. The children Donald jr. (44), Ivanka (40) and Eric (38) came like pearls on a string, and Ivana quickly became one of the most famous wives in New York’s social world.
She had a flair for business, and worked with her husband on several of his big projects.
But in 1989, Ivana found out that Donald was cheating – with actress Marla Maples (now 58). Not only that – Marla came up to her on the ski slope at the Aspen resort and declared her love for Donald.

It led to a heated argument, and several months of dirty laundry in the press.
Bad settlement
But Ivana did not let herself be broken. She secured a hefty divorce settlement, which laid the foundation for her to be worth a billion kroner when she died.
Among other things, she got a huge villa in Connecticut, an apartment in Trump Plaza, access to Mar-a-Lago for one month a year and $14 million when the divorce was finalized in 1992.
Many have seen her play herself in the film “The First Wives Club” where she says “Don’t get mad. Get everything”, which can be translated as “Don’t be furious. Get rich”.
After the divorce, Ivana worked in the fashion industry, launching clothes, jewelery and perfumes. She tried her luck with several men, and she had a total of four marriages and a cohabitation.
But she was single when she died. Her large fortune will now probably be divided between her children and grandchildren.
