Latham & Watkins has appointed Iván Rabanillo as a partner in the tax department. The lawyer, who joined the firm in 2009, has been practicing counsel since 2012 and regularly advises both Spanish multinationals and international investors on mergers and acquisitions, financing, capital markets and restructuring operations.

Before joining the firm, Rabanillo developed his career at Arthur Andersen, Garrigues and Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton. Among his latest transactional experiences is advising Enagás in its agreement with Blackstone and GIC for the acquisition of Tallgrass Energy for 6,000 million euros. Its client portfolio includes companies such as Repsol, IFM Investors, Goldman Sachs and Globalvia, among others.

Ignacio Gómez-Sancha, managing partner of the Madrid office, underlined the firm’s commitment to internal talent. “Iván Rabanillo is an example of the development that we offer to our most brilliant professionals”, he pointed out. He has also praised the lawyer’s extensive knowledge of Spanish and international tax law, as well as his extensive experience in transactions.

For his part, the partner responsible for tax in Madrid, Jordi Domínguez, has indicated that with this promotion Latham & Watkins consolidates its growth. “It is an award for the excellent work carried out by Iván since his incorporation almost twelve years ago.”
