Natural gas will be available, but probably at a much higher price. After September, the price of natural gas will decrease because supplies from Azerbaijan will be ensured. This was stated by the chairman of KEVR Ivan Ivanov in front of BBC.
Ivanov is categorically against negotiating with Gazprom and relying on them as the main supplier of gas. “Gazprom” showed and proved that it is not a reliable supplier, the head of KEVR pointed out.
He does not know whether a state of emergency will be introduced in the country because of the gas – it is not necessary and it is not justified.

The supply of gas to Bulgaria will proceed mainly from three directions: a little over 1 billion cubic meters and an additional half a billion from Azerbaijan, from liquefied natural gas and the lighter part of the contracts are exactly the quantities that can be provided by the tankers from the USA. The question is where it will be unloaded to be regasified and through which pipeline it will reach the border of Bulgaria, Ivanov pointed out.
There are regasification terminals in Turkey, apart from the Greek island of Revitusa.
Bulgaria will be supported if necessary to solve its problems. The important thing is for us to be part of a united Europe, emphasized Ivanov. The guarantees cannot be given after a few days ago a now resigned government gave mixed and unverified signals.
Ivanov gave an example that the former spokesman of the cabinet “Petkov” Lena Borislavova claimed that we would have received 4-5 times cheaper gas. Where is this gas now, asked the head of KEVR, according to whom it is very likely that the price of gas will increase by 60% and this be confirmed.

The crisis headquarters was created under the executive power and Ivan Ivanov is not a member of it. He attends staff meetings because of issues related to regulatory activity.

Ivan Ivanov assured that solutions will be found for gas. The compensations for the heating systems are necessary, they will not be able to pay their obligations to “Bulgargaz”, he pointed out. From January 1, 2023, the price of heat energy will not change, reassured the head of KEVR.
“There will certainly be a solution, the activity of Toplofikatsia-Sofia cannot be stopped,” Ivan Ivanov pointed out.
“Bulgargaz” owes taxes in the amount of BGN 105 million to the National Revenue Agency. In order to pay for gas supplies, the company must be financially supported. However, what the mechanism will be is not yet known.
