The MP is being investigated for homelessness and tax evasion from 2019.
The Chief Prosecutor of the Republic of Bulgaria submitted to the office of the 47th National Assembly a request to lift the immunity of a deputy in order to continue the investigation against him, according to the state prosecution. It is about Georgi Mihailov from BSP, “24 Chasa” has learned. He is accused of homelessness and large-scale tax evasion.
Georgi Mihailov has been under investigation since October 2019. This is the third request to lift his immunity as an MP. Until now, he has always refused to defend the law.
According to the state indictment, Mihailov committed the crime as director of the Specialized Hospital for Active Treatment of Hematological Diseases. He made unprofitable deals and ordered payments to companies, even though their contracts with the hospital had expired.
