The letter pointed out that a large gap has arisen between the club and the supporters.
Ghent chairman Ivan De Witte refers to the corona problem as an explanation for that feeling, but also underlines how he enters into consultations with various groups.
“You can’t talk to 20,000 people at the same time,” he explains. “We have our supporters federation and Armada Ganda. I do not delegate anyone to speak to those people, I do that myself.”
“You won’t find many clubs where the chairman does that himself. I thought I would reach enough people that way, but I learned from the letter that we have to work on that.”
The fans ask the Ghent chairman to acknowledge the problems outlined. “I therefore take this opportunity to say that there are meaningful things in the letter”, De Witte extends his hand.
“But I would like to know who wrote that letter,” he immediately launches a counter-prick. “Now is the time for the authors to make themselves known.”
“The content is debatable, the way this happened – anonymously – I have a hard time. I will not accept that.”

The end of 2020 is approaching and for Ivan De Witte it is a year to quickly forget. “I have been chairman for over 20 years and this is my annus horribilis, yes.”
“A lot has happened: corona, injuries, less good decisions. Half a year ago everything went very well, but suddenly things happened. We gradually know what and how.”
“It has not been easy. We are now suddenly having a very difficult period. Some bad decisions have been made. We are trying to rectify them and we will succeed.”
