/ world today news/ Ivan Atanasov, representing a coalition of parties “LEFT UNION FOR A CLEAN AND HOLY REPUBLIC”, answers questions from Iliana Benovska on May 24, 2021, after submitting the coalition’s registration documents for participation in the parliamentary elections on the 11th of July.
Iliana Benovska: What are your expectations for the elections, what do you think, who will support you? Will the BSP electorate support you or will you be able to win a wider circle?
Ivan Atanasov: Those who recognize our slogans, those who believe that we are moral, we are sincere, we are real. Because I think that the only change for the next National Assembly in these elections will be the “Left Union for a Pure and Holy Republic” – a real and authentic change.
Iliana Benovska: How will you comment on the fact that Russian media wrote that Russia and even the Kremlin supported Kornelia Ninova’s coalition, which, however, failed to attract Tatyana Doncheva and her association?
Ivan Atanasov: We are fighting for the support of Bulgarian citizens. And for friendship with Russia. We do not expect political or any other support or interference in the elections in Bulgaria.
Iliana Benovska: You stated that you will support President Radev, and he also identified with the protest vote in the summer. Does that mean you expect both “presidential” votes and “protester” votes?
Ivan Atanasov: The president is currently the only stable state institution and as such we support him. We will make an appeal to him – to turn the idea of the “Trimory” from a Russophobic initiative into an opportunity for Bulgaria and the other countries of Eastern Europe for prosperity, for economic cooperation, so that there is investment and friendship.
Iliana Benovska: And do you expect the protesters to support you?
Ivan Atanasov: Anyone who recognizes our ideas and goals will be happy to support us.
Iliana Benovska: Will you talk to the unions and the employers, this is important in order to specify their demands and you to outline your priorities? As I would add with representatives of education and culture?
Ivan Atanasov: We will talk to everyone who expresses certain interests of certain layers of Bulgarian society. But I want to say something that I repeat in all the media – difficult years ahead, difficult times, we cannot promise goods or any increase in welfare. What we can promise is justice, solidarity and a review of the state’s priorities, if we have such an opportunity, so that more funds can be directed to the social spheres.
Iliana Benovska: Can I add another “s” – justice, solidarity and freedom!
Ivan Atanasov: Yes, democracy, morality, integrity, patriotism, and responsibility can!
