Ituano Signs Former Grêmio Midfielder Jean Pyerre Through 2024

O Ituano made official the signing of midfielder Jean Pyere, ex-Grêmio, until the end of 2024.

After a great start at Grêmio, Jean Pyerre was diagnosed with testicular cancer, which led to the cancellation of negotiations between the club from Rio Grande do Sul and Giresunspor, from Turkey, at the beginning of 2022.

For Grêmio, the midfielder played 141 games, scored 22 goals and provided 17 assists between 2017 and 2021. After surgery to remove the tumor, he still played for Avaí, where he played 23 times and scored one goal.

With a contract signed with Ituano, Jean Pyerre spoke about the period away from football and the decision to return to playing.

– When I stopped I was very convinced of what I wanted. It wasn’t a decision made overnight, just like the decision to return. I kept coming back throughout the year. I’m too young to stop and regardless of what people say, whether it’s good or bad, what matters is my happiness, my moment and I’m happy to be able to come back, satisfy that longing, which isn’t complete – he said.

Ituano has already announced the signing of two strikers for next season: Pablo Diogo and Salatiel. In addition to Jean Pyerre, right-back Léo Duarte and defender João Vialle will also be reinforcements for Galo de Itu.

Coach Marcinho’s club announced the renewals of goalkeeper Jefferson Paulino, full-back Jonathan Silva, defender Claudinho and midfielder Eduardo Person.

On the other hand, another 19 players left the team after the end of the 2023 season.
