It’s warm, and it’s getting warmer: ‘Wednesday may be 30 degrees locally’

In meteorological terms, a rural summer day means that it will be 25 degrees in De Bilt. Tropical means that it will be at least 30 degrees. That will not be in the course of next week in De Bilt, but perhaps in Limburg.

Water still cold

First today. Sun in the sky, light breeze, enough for many people to take a ride to the beach. “The water is still cold, but with a weak easterly wind it’s a nice place to stay,” says meteorologist Leander de Wit of Buienradar.

Agent Emiel is also looking forward to it:

Perhaps unnecessary to report, but it is advisable to lubricate well. Although the sun’s power is not even at its strongest yet, you can burn yourself after fifteen minutes. That applies to today and the rest of the week, with the exception of tomorrow.

Storm

Because tomorrow there is suddenly a chance of a thunderstorm. In the morning there are already some showers in our country, but in the course of the afternoon it can really go wild. Gelderland, Overijssel, Drenthe and Groningen in particular can expect thunderstorms, says De Wit.

The sun will soon return after the showers. And how. Tuesday with a degree of 23, 24, Wednesday it will even be an average of 27 degrees with possible peaks. “It’s tense, but in the southeast it can get to 30 degrees.”

Warm nights

You may like those nice warm days, but the downside is the nights. Because they are also getting warmer the last few days. “The duvet can be removed,” says De Wit about it. “The nights are between 12 and 15 degrees, while it sometimes froze recently.”

A warm period, but it does not last indefinitely. “Friday and Saturday there will be a lot of rain, and the temperature will drop below 20 degrees again.”

It’s so hot with you right now:
