It’s time to start questioning things
Demands were unexpectedly low before the season, and yes, the team is sticking to the top. But looking at the squad, the salaries and all the millions of parachutes, the expectations must be much higher than what IKO has shown so far.
Matches move back and forth, the performances move more than the trees in Småland January 2005. Currently the stability is almost zero where every opponent feels the same hard and where few games were played after 17 games with three constant and even periods.
The result in this individual game is not a disaster, at the same time there are more question marks than exclamation marks in a team that should (and should) be the favorites to reach the SHL.
Stability must be found. If it is about moving some positions on the coaching bench or bringing in another vote for, at this stage, an inexperienced coach or something else, I will leave it unsaid.
Now suddenly there is speed up to the top-4 and that home field advantage that is so important in the playoffs.
First rip that disappeared
IK Oskarshamn, in its best moments, is a very good hockey team. In their worst moments, they are a very bad hockey team.
Once again, those who saw Friday’s game got to see both sides of the IKO. A completely unreliable type of duplicity.
It can’t be easy for those whose heart is in last year’s SHL team.
At the same time, there were some lights. One was Emil Kruse, who finished Carter Camper in the scoring table another. Zion Nybeck, on the other hand, was the best lighting prospect (who was sent to Linköping for the next season as late as the same day). He was involved in basically everything IK had offensively. Overall, he landed one goal and two assists and took another step in the overall scoring league.
Don’t miss the schedule
At 21.30 on Friday night, the match between Djurgården and IK Oskarshamn at Hovet was over. About 20 hours later, games fall in the Be-Ge Hockey Center in a derby against Vimmerby. Vimmerby played an away game in Södertälje on Friday.
Fully aware that this is a common practice in the NHL, but if there’s one thing we shouldn’t take after North Americans, it’s back-to-back.
Partly from an environmental point of view only that both teams will have to travel by bus across Sweden, but also that the quality of the game will suffer.
