Small (5 mm), black and white striped, its bite hurts: the tiger mosquito is very present in Dordogne, and in particular in the agglomeration of Périgueux.
To stop the proliferation of this diurnal insect, potentially vector of the dengue, chikungunya and zika viruses, several simple actions are to be performed. The first thing to do is to eliminate the laying grounds because a female can produce 200 eggs every 15 days.

It is therefore necessary to regularly check the places where water stagnates. In the case of a rain catcher, do not hesitate to stretch a mosquito net. Also avoid leaving water in containers such as flowerpot cups … Cover your tanks.

During the summer of 2019, several imported cases of dengue had led to an insecticide treatment campaign in Bergerac in order to prevent mosquitoes that have bitten the sick from contaminating the population.
