The vaccination ‘machine’ has so far not run “as we would have liked”. Blame for delivery delays and dose reduction (by Pfizer). But now that the vaccines of Astrazeneca will be added to Pfizer and Moderna, of which over 81 thousand doses are expected in Emilia Romagna in February and another 172 thousand in March, and of Johnson & Johnson, “with our plan – assured the governor Stefano Bonaccini and the regional councilor for health Raffaele Donini – we are able to vaccinate one million people every month “.
The plan, illustrated yesterday, provides for various scenarios, depending on the availability of the doses delivered. Meanwhile, with the arrival of the Astrazeneca vaccine, it will already be possible to administer the antidote to the police in the coming weeks. Phase 2, the one dedicated to the over 80s, which began with the vaccination of people receiving home health care and their family members, will go live on February 15. From that date, seniors will be able to start booking for the vaccine. You can make an appointment through the Cup, in the appropriate counters, in pharmacies or on the phone. But, as already anticipated in recent days, it will not be the only way.
“There will be extensive involvement of family doctors – confirm from the Department of Hygiene and Public Health of the AUSL in Rimini – both to help the elderly to book themselves and to administer the vaccine for cases in which it will not be possible to go to a of vaccination sites “.
There will be 7 offices in our province. The other located in Riccione, Cattolica and Morciano for the southern area of Rimini, Santarcangelo, Bellaria and Novafeltria for the northern area and Valmarecchia will be added to that at the Rimini Fair. Almost all the offices have already been identified by the Ausl, on a couple there are in-depth studies but soon the plan will be defined. In addition to these sites, “vaccinators will go to administer the antidote at home in some cases”. For this reason, it is thought of setting up mobile vaccination teams, with the collaboration of family doctors. Over 80 people called to be vaccinated will be over 23,500. For them, the administration will start from the end of February or, at the latest, the beginning of March. A doctor’s prescription will not be required for vaccination. On the contrary: “We will ask family doctors – explains the AUSL – to report the most urgent and priority cases”.
After the over 80s it will then be the turn of the Rimini group between 60 and 79 years old. There are 75 thousand in the whole province. Together with them will be vaccinated (regardless of age) the disabled, all those suffering from serious and chronic diseases (for some diseases precise indications are expected from the ministry) as well as all school staff, teaching and otherwise. For these categories, the procedure for making an appointment for vaccines will be communicated in due course. It is now impossible to predict the timing of the vaccine campaign: it will depend on the available stocks. “In Emilia Romagna – underlined Bonaccini yesterday – there is a system capable of vaccinating up to 45 thousand people a day. We would be able, by the summer, to vaccinate everyone if there were enough doses. But we must not be deceived, because it does not depend on us “, but on the pharmaceutical companies.
