/ world today news/ The new Judeo-Islamic escalation has a name, a surname (Itamar Ben-Gvir) and a position – Minister of National Security of Israel. Benjamin Netanyahu’s nationalist regime needs the escalation to quell the internal conflict in Israel fueled by the left-wing protests against judicial reform discussed in the article Storming the Temple Mount.
The idea is simple. As they write on social networks: “Jewish left and right will get along when it’s time to beat up the Palestinians”. The unification of society will work to achieve the program goals of the Jewish nationalists.
It began on the night before Saturday, April 1, on the Temple Mount. On Saturdays, left-wing demonstrations against judicial reform have been simmering in the streets of Israel for three months now. The recent announcement of “freezing the reform until the summer” it didn’t help, the protests continue.
We remind you that in 2023, the holy month of Ramadan for Muslims falls in the period from March 23 to April 21, and for Jews – Pesach (Passover) – from April 5 to the night of April 13.
How can you not take advantage?!
On the night of April 1, at the entrance to the Temple Mount, the police killed a young Bedouin doctor who was said to be “in an attempted terrorist attack”. The version of the Israeli security forces does not stand up to criticism. The Bedouin pilgrim is said to be “grabbed the weapon from a MAGAV (Border Gendarmerie) fighter and managed to fire but missed and was immediately killed by return fire”.
The murder was carried out outside the CCTV area (it was possible to find such a place on the Temple Mount after all!) while the officers’ chest cameras turned out to be off due to their distraction.
Clashes between the Palestinians and the gendarmerie immediately began at the site. Hamas immediately claimed the assassination “part of the religious war of the occupiers against their people and holy places”. Everyone got everything right.
A 26-year-old Bedouin, an Israeli citizen who had just received a medical degree, was killed. He witnessed border guards roughly detain a woman by not allowing her to climb the Temple Mount. The doctor (his name is Mohammed-Khaled Al-Asibi) stood up for her and was immediately shot dead.
The Bedouins in his home village announced “strike in protest against the cold-blooded killing by the occupation police of Ben Gvir”. How can we not remember Ben-Gvir’s scandalous speech on January 3 during his “walk”: “The Temple Mount belongs to all.” Then the provocation caused an international scandal, until the extraordinary convening of the UN Security Council.
This had no effect on Ben Gvir.
Now things came to a head.
The police frenzy at Al-Aqsa Mosque, the exchange of rocket strikes and terrorist attacks are a few days away…
Let’s dig a little deeper. There is a fringe extremist movement in Israel “Return to the Mountain”. Its leader, Raphael Morris, is obsessed with the idea of performing a goat sacrifice on the Temple Mount on the occasion of the Passover holiday. In addition, any Jewish rituals on the Temple Mount, including prayers, are prohibited by law.
The extremist’s call to participate in the mountain climb and the sacrifice was spread on social networks. All those detained by the police were guaranteed monetary compensation. Ben-Gvir verbally opposed the plan of the “Temple Mount zealots” in that part of it which dealt with the sacrifice.
But he was not at all worried about the climb itself. Morris’ accomplice developed a “special operation”. The scapegoat was to be left until April 5 in the Old City with the Arabs “at a good price”. Such an offer to the Arabs was posted on social networks in Arabic.
Let’s clarify. Blood sacrifices were practiced by the Jews until the destruction of the Second Temple. After the destruction, it was agreed that the ritual of the temple service until the restoration of the Third Temple would be replaced by other forms of service to the Almighty: prayer, study of the Torah, strict observance of its ritual and ethical prescriptions.
Therefore, the Chief Rabbinate of Israel also opposes the Passover sacrifice on the Temple Mount. Wailing Wall Rabbi Shmuel Rabinovitch called for everything possible to stop the “Return to the Mountain” movement.
On April 4, a few hours before the Al-Aqsa police mayhem, the conflict between Ben-Gvir and the Inspector General of Police (Chief of Police) Yaakov Shabtai took on new colors. The latter was against the fact that the National Guard being created was directly subordinated to Ben-Gvir. And they seem to have agreed that they would obey, like Magav, through Shabtai. Against the arrangements, Ben-Gvir, being a skilled provocateur, published part of the conversation with Shabtai, which made Shabtai appear more nationalist than Ben-Gvir himself.
The scandalous conversation was “leaked” to the press on April 4, on the eve of “the night of the sacrifice.” Security forces spoke of killings in the Arab sector.
Ben Gvir: “Murder after murder. This is too much. We need a strong National Guard.”
Shabbat: “There is nothing to be done. They are killing each other. This is their nature. This is the Arab mentality.”
Ben Gvir: “This can be stopped. It is necessary to prevent the killing of both Arabs and Jews.”
After the publication of this part of the conversation, a scandal broke out. As expected, the Arabs were outraged. Knesset member Ayman Oudeh, leader of the Joint Arab List in parliament, immediately attacked Shabtai for saying “they kill each other, that’s their nature “.
Oude explained: “The number of Palestinians killed in Israel is 7 times the number of Palestinians killed in the West Bank, Gaza and Jordan – and this is the result of a crime (by the Jewish state). This is not the nature of Palestinians – this is the nature of racist Israeli oppression. Anywhere in the world, a racist inspector general like Shabtai would be fired in an instant. Shabtai – resignation!”
This further electrified the atmosphere on the Temple Mount.
The “night of the sacrifice” came.
After the evening prayer, several hundred praying Palestinians, who were expecting something from the Jews, barricaded themselves in the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
MAGAV security forces took the Muslim shrine by storm. In a video shot by Palestinians, police are seen beating people inside the mosque, and a woman is heard screaming: “Oh my God!” Palestinians say police opened fire on them with rubber bullets and used stun grenades. Many Arabs were injured, 350-400 people were detained. Israeli authorities say they are “Palestinians negotiated”, that they threw stones at them, even hit one in the leg…
The night on the Temple Mount was fiery.
In the morning, the Palestinians fired 16 rockets at Israel from the northern part of the Gaza Strip, eight of which were shot down by the Iron Dome air defense system, one hit a factory in the industrial area of Sderot, and the rest fell in the desert.
What happened was what was demanded by the Minister of National Security, Ben-Gvir. He announced: “The government of which I am a member must respond harshly to the rocket fire from Gaza. Hamas rockets require a response other than shelling the dunes and the uninhabited areas… The time has come for heads to fly in Gaza.
And heads flew. Israel launched airstrikes in the Gaza Strip, hitting what Israeli media said were “several Hamas targets”.
The Muslim world was outraged by the overnight raid by Jewish security forces on the mosque.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Jordan: “Israeli aggression is unacceptable and is aimed at changing the historical and legal status of Jerusalem. We will take all necessary measures to end the dangerous Israeli escalation that threatens the entire region.”
The Secretary General of the Arab League, Ahmed Abul Gheit: “We call on the international community, in particular the member states of the UN Security Council, to act quickly so that Israel puts an end to this dangerous escalation that could set the entire region on fire.”
Saudi Arabia expressed “categorically reject”, and Egypt holds Israel, “the occupying power responsible for this dangerous escalation that could jeopardize efforts to reach a ceasefire.”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said his government is determined to “maintain the status quo and reduce tension” on the Temple Mount.
According to reports from Israel on April 6 “dozens of rockets were fired from Lebanese territory at cities in the north of the country. The Iron Dome air defense system failed to cope with a large-scale attack, some missiles exploded and injured people. On the night of Friday, April 7, the Israeli army (IDF) struck Lebanese territory, saying that “The IDF will not allow the terrorist organization Hamas to operate from Lebanese territory and holds the State of Lebanon responsible for any targeted fire from its territory.”
The famous international journalist Israel Shamir draws attention to such a detail in Israel’s shelling: “He immediately hit Gaza, and at night he bombarded Tyre, an ancient Phoenician city. But there is a problem related to Ukraine. Israel ran out of shells and what’s more – handed them over to Ukraine for shelling of the Donbass. American missiles stationed on the territory of Israel have also gone to Ukraine. Now, like it or not, Israel must sit quietly and suffer. And they are not used to holding back . Israel Shamir links to his source for the fact that the shells are “went to Ukraine”.
However, the calculations of Ben-Gvir, who became a key figure in Israel, were not fully justified. The protests of the “leftists” against the judicial reform of the nationalists continued on Saturday, April 8.
