It’s the Russian Governor’s Turn to Promise Rewards for Destroying Western Tanks

MOSCOW – Governor of the Zabaikalsky Territory in Russia The east is offering a reward to soldiers from the province who capture or destroy a NATO tank in Ukraine. This announcement comes after a private Russian company previously offered prizes with similar terms.

In an order signed on Friday, Governor Alexander Osipov stated that any local soldier who manages to seize a Leopard tank “in working condition” can get $42,909 or around Rp.645 million.

Meanwhile, a USD 14,303 (Rp 215 million) prize will be paid to anyone who destroys one of these German tanks, while those who assist in the successful capture will be paid USD 7,150 (Rp 107.4 million) and those who assist in the destruction of the Leopard will receive USD 2. 240 (Rp. 33.6 million).

A total of USD 21,450 (Rp 322.4 million) will be paid for the successful capture of the United States M1 Abrams tank, with destruction paying USD 7,150 (Rp 107.4 million). As with the Leopard tanks, a smaller reward is offered for those who help soldiers.

Osipov’s order ended with a warning that soldiers seeking tanks to destroy or capture should first work to preserve their lives and health. RTTuesday (31/1/2023).

Previously, Berlin announced last week that it would supply Kiev’s troops with 14 Leopard 2 tanks, and would give other European countries permission to export their own tank stockpiles to Ukraine. Chancellor Olaf Scholz stated that Germany and its partners wish to supply a total of 112 Leopard 2 tanks.

Whereas the US promised 31 Abrams tanks but – apparently having promised to provide Germany with “cover” for sending the Leopards – reportedly won’t be able to deliver these mammoth, high-maintenance vehicles to the battlefield until at least late 2023.

Previously announced, the Russian chemical company Fores had offered a similar prize to Osipov. In a statement on its website on Friday, the company said it would pay $70,700 to any Russian soldier who destroys or captures one of the tank types, with $7,070 being offered for the next prize.

Moscow’s position on foreign arms shipments demonstrates NATO’s “direct involvement” and will only prolong the conflict in Ukraine. Western tanks, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said earlier this month, are flammable and they will burn like any other Western weapon.
