It’s the end! OnePlus has ended support for OxygenOS on the OnePlus 6 and 6T

Despite changing its philosophy, OnePlus has always focused on presenting top models that have high durability. One of the examples of this is the OnePlus 6 and 6T, presented in 2018, with great success.

These smartphones are now reaching the end of their useful life and OnePlus has also decided to put an end to their support. Thus, it revealed that it is now ending software support and ceasing to maintain OxygenOS for these models.

The end of support for OnePlus 6 and 6T

Even with several models still active, OnePlus has an excellent record with its 6 and 6T models. These were released in 2018 and have since received brand attention for updates and bug fixes.

OnePlus thus marks an important moment in the life of these smartphones, which are now ending their useful life. In fact, and despite being a novelty, this is a situation that should not surprise users of these models.

Years of OxygenOS releases and development

Since their launch, the OnePlus 6 and 6T have received the necessary updates to OxygenOS, as well as other improvements and fixes. Than the brand reveals, since 2018 3 major updates have been released.

There were 3 years of updates and many test versions dedicated to the OnePlus 6 and 6T. From what is known, there were 60 versions within the closed beta version program and also 30 versions in the open beta version program.

OnePlus thanked the community for the help given

In the publication announcing the end of support, the OnePlus team thanked the community for the support given in the development and testing of these versions over the years. This ensured an improvement and growth of OxygenOS, making it a better system with more features.

With this end of support, users are left with one of two possible paths. Either they choose to use a ROM adjusted to this model, which, given its success, exists, or they choose to migrate to a more recent model with support for a longer period.
