It’s Peace, Tencent Games Returns to Huawei’s App Store

Jakarta

After a row and all the games were removed from the app store Huawei, now the game from Tencent like Arena of Valor is back in the app store.

The dispute in question is a revenue-sharing scheme recently established by Huawei. Under this scheme, Huawei is determined to cut 50% of Tencent’s game sales on their app store.

However, Tencent rejected the new scheme, and because the two of them had never reached an agreement, Tencent’s game was eventually removed from the Huawei app store.

Tencent and Huawei are both ‘giants’ in China. Tencent has some of the most popular online games in the world, while Huawei has a large market share in China, namely 41.4%, and 14.9% globally.

But now both of them have reconciled and agreed, and various Tencent games are now back on the Huawei app store.

“The two parties will continue to work together to provide the best experience and service to consumers,” he wrote Tencent in his statement.

The income-cutting scheme that Huawei implemented was also rejected by a number of developers. One of them is miHoYo, the maker of Genshin Impact, which decided not to include its flagship game on the Huawei app store.

Previously, tens of thousands of apps and games were also removed from the App Store for iOS. To be precise, 39 thousand games do not have an International Standard Book Number (ISBN), which is required by the Chinese government.

Many western game titles have also fallen victim to this ‘clean-up’ action, including Assassin’s Creed Identity and NBA 2K20, leaving only 74 of the original 1,500 most popular paid games. As usual in cases like this, it was the users who ended up suffering and being harmed.
