The peace at the ‘Vandaag Inside’ table was abruptly disturbed on Monday evening when Johan Derksen (75) got up during the live broadcast and left the program. After a heated argument with Wilfred Genee (57), in which the gentlemen called each other ‘incredible idiots’, the experienced analyst had had enough.
“I’m done, René. Let’s get to it. I’m going home.”
The remarkable moment happens a few minutes after the start of the broadcast. “Are you going to have fun all evening?” Johan asks Wilfred. “Yes, I’m going to have fun all evening,” was Wilfred’s response. That clearly doesn’t sit well with Johan. “I think you’re a great fagot.” That was also the case the other way around. “You know that by now,” said Wilfred.
The atmosphere then changes. “You know what, I’m done with it,” said a visibly emotional Johan. “I’m going home. It’s over for me,” after which he gets up from the table and walks away. “Drive carefully,” Wilfred repeats.
The audience and table guests are left stunned. René says he is not surprised by Johan’s action. “It just doesn’t surprise me anymore.” René adds that it is not fun for the audience as Johan Today Inside calls it a ‘shitty program’. “You also insult the viewers a bit with that. They always watch a program that makes no sense.”
Wilfred is then asked how ‘this problem’ (departure of Johan Derksen, ed.) should be solved. “No idea. Tomorrow is a new day.” Wilfred then emphasizes that he does not understand why Johan is running away. “Of course it’s about nothing at all.” According to Wilfred Today Inside a ‘really fun programme’ that should be enjoyed. He concludes: “And Johan: I hope to see you tomorrow.”
The tensions between Wilfred and Johan are not new, as the two have often had open disagreements at the table. In September, for example, when Johan had a heated discussion with Wilfred about the content of the program. Johan thought so Today Inside had to be more serious in terms of topics. After that broadcast, Wilfred and René responded to the analyst’s statements. You can watch the video below.
