It’s now official: the New York Rangers have announced the buyout of Henrik Lundqvist’s contract.

Here’s what that means for Blueshirts :

The Swedish goalie was a seventh-round pick in 2000 by the New York squad.

During his 15 years with the Rangers, Lundqvist got his hands on the Vézina trophy at the end of the 2011-2012 season.

He also played in the Stanley Cup final in 2014, where the Rangers were defeated by the Los Angeles Kings.

Since the start of his career, Lundqvist has played 889 games. He maintained a 2.44 goals-against average and a .918 save rate.

During the 2019-2020 campaign, he was automatically for 30 meetings. He finished with a 3.16 goals against average and .905 save rate.
