It’s official! Maria Fernanda Aristizabal has been crowned Miss Universe Colombia

In a colorful ceremony of music and dance at the Zipaquirá Salt Cathedral, where tribute was paid to Colombian identity, to the beauty of women and to the department of the current Miss Colombia, Quindío, María Fernanda Aristizabal received the crown from of Valeria Ayos, as the new representative to Miss Universe International.

The Quindiana, who was chosen in 2020 as Miss Colombia and for reasons beyond her could not attend the international contest, was appointed on April 6 by the Miss Universe Colombia organization to travel this year as a candidate for Colombia, an applauded decision by many beauty fanatics.

Maria Fernanda was grateful to the organization for allowing her to represent the country in her first speech as Miss Colombia.

“Every day practicing this day for you, so that you enjoy this moment as much as I do. The most beautiful thing is being able to live this process, so I invite each of you to inspire around you, that’s what I want to do with this band, with this title, with this flag. I want to thank the organization because from day one they told me it could be Colombia, my life changed. This dream is coming true.”

Miss Universe Colombia, in dialogue with Colprensa, mentioned her pride in representing the country in the most important international beauty pageant.

What does that crown represent that now takes you to Miss Universe International?

The truth represents a lot of struggle, a lot of dedication, love, perseverance and discipline. The truth is that dreams have to be fought for day by day, not to lose heart, for example, when they say no or close a door on you like it happened to me, so that crown represents that.

What is the message you send to your department and to all of Colombia, of course, already with this title?

I started out as Quindio, I will never forget that, today I am Colombia and I am proud to say that I was the first queen to represent my department in this way. I am happy because from this many queens have been inspired and motivated to start participating in beauty pageants. They have seen the importance of inspiring other people through acting and I think that is what satisfies me the most. I am very happy that all Colombians can enjoy themselves and feel identified with this process that has touched me.

What are you going to take to Miss Universe Colombia and yourself?

I want to express my authenticity in Miss Universe, my naturalness as María Fernanda. The fighter, hardworking and tireless woman who has never given up, especially in this process that she has touched me, which has been different. When you know that you have done things like that, you have to value yourself and applaud yourself, besides, this is teamwork and I want Miss Universe to see that.

What is the feeling that finally leaves you, having the certainty of representing Colombia in Miss Universe after a few years so doubtful and uncertain about that great dream for a candidate to be in that pageant?

It has been long awaited, really. Each step that you are reaching and that you are advancing has been very gratifying. Today I can value this experience much more for everything that has happened. I am grateful for every step I have taken and for having the faith that this was going to happen.
