ABIDJAN- Guinea signed the third victory in a row in the CAN 2025 qualifiers by dominating the Democratic Republic of Congo last Saturday in Abidjan with a score of (1-0). The win took time to emerge and it was substitute Syli Sehrou Guirassy who delivered Guinea again in the dying moments of the game..
Guirassy scored his 6th goal in 3 matches played in these qualifiers. At a press conference, Michel Dussuyer, who is breaking the hegemony of the Congolese who have defeated Guinea since 2004 and the last victory at Syli, did not hide his happiness. But for him, the most difficult part is still to be done, which is to say, to go to Tanzania to earn the certificate.
“We faced a good Congo team. We were rewarded for our self-sacrifice. We are in the race for qualification, but it is not over yet even if we won today. It was a very close game, success was on our side today. It was a challenge to beat DR Congo, as it has been 20 years since we last beat Congo. We are especially happy to get the third win in a row which will allow us to be in the race for qualification (…) Now, we have not finished the mission yet, we still have a crucial match in Dar -es-salam. Guinea will fly from Abidjan this Sunday morning, heading to Dar-es-salam to sharpen their last weapons before playing their “final” this Tuesday, November 19 against Tanzania. In the ranking, Guinea is in second place with 9 points, just ahead of Tanzania (7 points).
