The young actress, Mayan El-Sayed, has come under a wave of criticism because of her dress, which she wore at the opening ceremony of the 44th Cairo Film Festival.
Mayan posted the photos, through her official Instagram account, and commented, “A special dress for a special occasion…from the opening ceremony of the 44th session of the Cairo International Film Festival, which is the first absolutely”.
The comments from the audience were as follows: “If without the net it would be better”, “You are the moon and all, but the dress this time does not suit you”, “The dress is older than your age, it is not nice for you.”
While others interacted with her, praising her looks, and some comments were as follows: “Beautiful”, “Princess”, “Qamar Always, Mayan”, “Your Sweetness”, “Queen”.
The activities of the 44th session of the Cairo International Film Festival got underway on the evening of Sunday 13 November, at the Grand Theater of the Cairo Opera House, and will continue until Tuesday, corresponding to the 22nd of the same month.
The artist, Hussein Fahmy, president of the Cairo Film Festival, said in a press release that the festival, in its 44th session, seeks to attract more diverse works that include different ideas, cultures and cinematic trends by opening the door for participation in di facing new and stimulating experiences from all over the world.
The festival screens 97 films from 52 countries, holds 12 red carpets to celebrate 12 films of the participating works.
Cairo International Film Festival, one of the oldest and most regular festivals in the Arab world and Africa, is unique in that it is the only festival in the Arab and African region registered in category A with the Paris International Federation of Producers (FIAPF) .
