“It’s like you can’t breathe” – Baiba’s story about Covid-19

covid-19">

“The first symptoms appeared on March 1-2. At that time, it all seemed somewhere far away, because we still had nothing. I ran, I worked – it seemed like I had a cold because it was spring.

Then one evening, on March 3 or 4, the temperature rose to 38.5 degrees. Well, what – I took paracetamol, got up in the morning and went to work, ”Baiba remembers, because March 8 was approaching and her work was related to flowers.

For several days she tried to get away with antipyretics, but then collapsed physically.

“I did not travel, but around Women’s Day we received a lot of flowers from Holland. The drivers of these trucks drive all over Europe. At that time, Poland and the Netherlands were already infected.

And, of course, no driver will say they are sick or symptomatic. There was also a very large flow of clients at work, as everyone was chasing flowers. At that time, at the beginning of March, no one thought that the virus was here and that we could really start to get sick, ”says Baiba.

At the beginning of March, the Covid-19 tests were very limited – for those who traveled and their contacts, but there was a long queue for paid tests, so Baiba did not take the test.

A few days later, the family doctor in a mask came to hear the lungs and concluded that there was bilateral pneumonia. Baiba started taking antibiotics. One, the other, then the third and the fourth, but unsuccessfully.

“Since I started taking antibiotics and nothing helped, he said, ‘Baiba, you have Covid-19.’ Let them not do analyzes if they do not consider it necessary, but I am 100% sure. Because you had to go to the paws with this medicine in a week, ”the woman remembers.

“It simply came to our notice then. If someone told me it could hurt the lungs, I wouldn’t believe it because the lungs don’t hurt anymore. But it is that you cannot breathe. The peak is such short breaths, because as soon as you try to take a deeper breath, it hurts. Cough is rare, but as soon as you start scratching, you are already scared, because you know it will hurt. It hurts that you, a grown man, are crying, yes. ”

The temperature has been above 38 degrees for less than two weeks.

The powerlessness was so great that in the one-room apartment he could not go to the kitchen without stopping.

An ambulance was called, the situation was described, but the Covid-19 analyzes were not performed again.

“The team arrived, put on my respirator, in masks, and started making a cardiogram for me. I asked – why, because I was waiting for the analysis. I replied, “No, you are not in the criteria for analysis, not all crews take them.”

After about two weeks, the temperature finally started to drop, but remained above 37 degrees for another two weeks.

When she finally took the Covid-19 test in early April, it was already negative. Some have tried to say that Baibai had a simple pneumonia.

“I have had pneumonia, I know how it was and what a cough was then. These are two different things, ”emphasizes Baiba.

An antibody test sent to Baiba by a family doctor added to the doubt.

The antibodies showed nothing other than Covid-19. But in official Covid-19 statistics, Baiba’s name is missing.

“It simply took another month and a half for me to recover. There was weakness, dizziness, decreased taste. When breathing there was a feeling that something was in front, you could not take a full breath. One morning I woke up, dried up and realized – I can finally have my lungs full! It’s such a pleasure that you can do it! It’s not funny, and it’s not nonsense, it’s really terrible, ”says Baiba.

Negative comments on the Internet do not bother him much, but rather cause pity and confusion.

“Now I say – let God never touch you. Not for you, nor for your loved ones.

I do not wish anyone. Hopefully someone will hear and listen, ”says Baiba.

We remind you that 5332 Covid-19 examinations were performed last day and 188 new cases of Covid-19 were registered, according to the information provided by the Center for Disease Prevention and Control (SPKC).

Continuing the investigation of the outbreak, at least 50 cases have been detected in Vecpiebalga region, several cases are among the previously established cases and outbreaks, 13 infected have returned from Belarus.

11 people were hospitalized last day. A total of 69 patients are treated in hospitals: 63 with moderate course of disease, 6 with severe course of disease. A total of 281 patients were discharged from the hospital.

The proportion of positive cases against the tested ones – 3.5%. As previously explained by Yuri Perevoshchikov, Director of the Infectious Diseases Risk Analysis and Prevention Department of the SPKC, the decisive threshold is 4%, as agreed by European Union experts. If the number of positive tests is equal to or greater than this mark, then the prevalence of the disease in the community can be considered to be widespread.
