“It’s horrifying!”. Zbigniew Boniek pointed out why Poland was eliminated from the Euro after the group stage

Zbigniew Boniek summed up the performance of the Polish national team at Euro 2020. The president of the Polish Football Association indicated what made the failure of the Polish Football Association.

Although the Poles scored only one point in three matches, Boniek does not believe that Paulo Sousa made mistakes in the team’s tactical preparation.

– I believe that the tactic was not shot through. It wasn’t as if someone did what they liked to us. Slovakia won with us happily. Spain tied with us and Sweden scored very late. We were also close – commented Boniek in “Prawda Futbolu”.

The president of the Polish Football Association believes that the Poles finished their performance in the championship in the group stage. As an example, he gives the goals that the Swedes scored for us.

– The second goal was a strange thing. We shoot at the goal, the ball bounces off the defender’s back, Kulusevski wins the duel with Frankowski … At this point, the defender has to jump to him and foul. And Kulusevski runs 50, 60 meters. It’s horrifying! None of our players are attacking him. On the contrary – they come back calmly. These are the mistakes you pay for – said the president of the Polish Football Association.

– There was a disgrace in 2018 when we missed the target in many respects. There was no compromise here, but the result was not successful. We have dropped out, we have failed, but our failure can only be considered in terms of sports – added.

– My observations showed that Bereszyński and Krychowiak are very important players in the coach’s concept. In the match against Slovakia, both of them took part in the most important actions to our disadvantage. This is what sport is like – Boniek summed up.
