Netflix has bought the rights to the documentary “Tinder Swindler” inspired by the VG revelation about the Tinder Swindler.

It reports Variety.

– It’s fun and inspiring that Netflix picks up stories we make. It says something about the impact VG can have when we have unique content, which we tell in engaging ways, says Rolf Sønstelie, editor of VGTV.

In February 2019, VG revealed the story of Israeli Simon Leviev, known as The Tinder Swindler.

Now a documentary about the story has been made, and there are several renowned filmmakers on the team.

Among them are the producers of the Netflix documentaries “Three Identical Strangers” and “Don’t F *** With Cats”, as well as director Felicity Morris who was also the director of the latter.

The documentary is titled “Tinder Swindler”, and will follow the women who were tricked by Shimon Yehuda Hayut, as he is actually called, while revealing his true identity and bringing him to justice.

The streaming service Netflix has now bought the rights to “Tinder Swindler”. It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post.

– It has been exciting and educational to collaborate with Netflix. I think we will see more of this in the future, because the streaming services have an enormous need for real stories that can be dramatized, Sønstelie adds.
