International Hockey Federation (IIHF) President Luc Tardif is optimistic about the possible start of the NHL overseas players at the 2026 Olympic Games in Italy. However, the French official said that the IIHF would like to know what it is up to, rather than later.
An agreement between the NHL leadership, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the NHLPA is required for the Canadian-American profilers to present themselves four years under five circles.
“Overseas, they know that it is extremely difficult for us to wait until the last minute. I understand that this is not easy in this regard, and so is the IOC. And that it’s frustrating for both fans and players. That is why I am optimistic about the 2026 Olympic Games, ” said on Thursday Tardif.
