Fabien Schertz, franchisee All4home in Saverne (Bas-Rhin) for just over a year, looks back on the start of its activity and testifies to the contribution of its franchisor to the success of its franchise launch.

Can you introduce yourself and tell us about your professional background in a few words?

Fabien Schertz : I am 38 years old and I am a father of two children aged eight and six. After scientific engineering studies, I turned to environmental professions by joining a company specializing in the collection and recovery of waste. After ten years as head of profit centers, I wanted to discover a new field of activity and gain skills. I held the position of director of a family passenger transport company which involved significant responsibilities and autonomy.

How and why did you take the plunge into entrepreneurship?

I had been looking for a long time for a position in a structure where I could flourish and have all the autonomy necessary to assume management responsibilities. This is what I had in my last salaried job until the family business was sold to a group whose project did not suit me. So I decided to create my business.

How long have you been an All4home franchisee? What motivated you to start a franchise and with this network in particular?

My All4home agency has been in existence for a year in the Saverne and Kochersberg sectors. I chose the All4home franchise because, coming out of paid employment, I needed to be supported in my project. I couldn’t see myself building everything alone.

Basically, I remain convinced that this method of creating a business makes it possible to be more efficient more quickly and, consequently, to be able to be more confident in the future, in particular on the remuneration side. What have you appreciated since you started?

Without a doubt, support throughout the various phases, from reflection on the catchment area to the purely administrative creation of the company, including all communication and marketing aspects. I greatly appreciate the great availability of the network and its leaders.

What does the franchisor bring you on a daily basis?

The All4home franchisor provides me with regular advice, monitoring and analysis of my performance, but also tools to develop my business. Having benchmarks between agencies is very useful for progressing and learning from the experience of other franchisees in the network. We exchange regularly with each other and with the head of the network to highlight good practices. Then everyone decides what they want to put in place or not.

How are your relations with your fellow franchisees?

This year was special because we did not necessarily have the opportunity to see each other physically, but our weekly exchanges allowed us to keep the link. We all have different histories, varied professional backgrounds and that is precisely what is very educational and allows us to develop our respective agencies.

What are your goals for 2021?

The year 2020 ended for me with the opening of my agency with showcase in the town of Saverne and I am very proud of it. It is now a question of continuing development on a regular basis while retaining my customers. This will involve valuing the work of my employees, setting up remuneration and social benefits systems that differentiate from competitors to attract the best profiles.

How are you coping with the Covid-19 crisis as a franchisee?

With concern, obviously, but it is clear that we have invested heavily in the protection of our employees and therefore our customers with masks, hydroalcoholic gel, gloves and we have put in place strict procedures to perform the services under optimal health security conditions. These rules will remain in place for as long as needed in 2021.

What would you say to applicants for the All4home franchise?

I would tell them to think about their project, their ability to become a business leader and then, quickly, to get started. It’s exciting, worrying too, but starting a business allows you to flourish fully.

Can we say today that you have flourished professionally?

Completely yes! On an emotional level I did the “roller coasters” during this first year, especially the first few months because of the health crisis, but it is worth it. Today I am fully satisfied with my choice and if I had to do it again I would start again!
