Madrid is preparing to host an event that is on its way to becoming a world reference in the world of wine. The Golden Vines®, known as the “Oscars of wine”land for the first time in the Spanish capital of October 25-27.
Its exclusivity goes hand in hand with the price: the experience costs 10,000 pounds per person, which is equivalent to about 11,992 euros. This meeting, which has traveled to cities such as Paris, Florence and Londonwill bring together the world’s best winegrowers, renowned sommeliers, and those seeking luxury gastronomic experiences.
Organized by Liquid Icons, a company founded by the prestigious sommelier Gerard Basset and the businessman Lewis Chesterthis event not only celebrates excellence in the wine sector, but also offers its attendees a weekend full of unique activities. Tastings, auctions and galas, where guests can delight in wines and spirits as rare as they are exquisite, as well as other surprises.
A weekend designed for the senses
The event will take place in several of the most select venues in the capital of Madrid. The opening will take place on Friday October 25thwill take place in the iconic Real Casa de Correos, where the Chef Mario Sandoval, from the Coque restaurant (with two Michelin stars), will be in charge of dazzling with a Dinner paired with some of the most awarded wines worldwide. Attendees will enjoy labels such as Krug Grande Cuvée 162ème and the legendary Vega Sicilia Únicoall in an atmosphere enlivened by internationally renowned performances.
Not only will gastronomy be the protagonist, but there will also be a live auction organized by Sotheby’swhich will raise funds for the Gérard Basset Foundation, which supports education in the world of wine and diversity within the sector.
On Saturday October 26thattendees will be invited to enjoy lunches that will bring together producers such as Jacques Selosse, Roagna and Marqués de Murrieta, to name just a few. In the evening, the event will reach its climax at the The Golden Vines® Awards Galawhich will take place in the impressive Cybele Palace.
Here, the big names of the wine will compete in nine categories which recognise excellence in areas as varied as sustainability, innovation and the rise of young stars in the sector.
The evening will close with a dinner orchestrated by the Roca brothers, chefs of El Celler de Can Roca, one of the best restaurants in the world with three Michelin stars. Wines as exclusive as Dom Perignon Rose 2008 and Château d’Yquem 1983 will accompany the culinary proposal in what promises to be an unforgettable experience.
