On December 10 and 11, the Friends of the Boisé d’Auteuil group will organize a Christmas activity in the heart of the forest in an atmosphere worthy of the holiday season.
Called Santa Claus in my woodland, the event will display decorations made from election signs among the trees, along with Santa, elves and the star fairy.
People are expected every day from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
“We can come and meet Santa Claus so that the children can give their list of gifts with their families while respecting the sanitary measures”, explains Mélanie Frégeau, organizer of the Friends of the Boisé d’Auteuil.
Woodland protection
The Amis du Boisé d’Auteuil form a group of citizens mobilized to protect the Boisé d’Auteuil in the sectors of Bailly, Boivin, Baulu, Bergeron, Laura and Bellehumeur streets, which form a set of green corridors of mature trees.
“We are trying as much as possible to involve the population, the citizens of Auteuil, the people of the surrounding neighborhoods, so that they can discover the wooded area”, continues Mélanie Frégeau.
Waiting
In June, the Friends of the Boisé d’Auteuil submitted a brief including recommendations for zoning changes targeting the counted lots in the wooded area, to the Laval city council. Since then, the organization is still awaiting a response from the city.
“The briefs were read in the fall and we are awaiting the decision in the spring of 2022,” says Ms. Frégeau.
In this precious document for the organization, requests target in particular the inclusion of Boisé d’Auteuil within the wildlife refuge of the Rivière-des-Mille-Îles park, as well as improvements by Canopée, the network of woods in Laval. , to make it accessible throughout the year.
Note that the City of Laval acquired three lots covering natural environments of interest, for a total cost of $ 213,200, on November 24.
