“The X Factor” first appeared on British television in 2004. It was to become an even more successful talent show than predecessor “Pop Idol”, broadcast in our country on VTM as “Idol”. It also laid the foundation for “The Voice”, the talent show conceived by John de Mol that is currently very successful in various countries.
The title “The X Factor” refers to the almost indefinable “something” an artist must have in order to become a real star. The mysterious touch that makes the difference between the big break and non-professional singers. The formula for the program comes from Simon Cowell, previously a jury member in “Pop Idol” and at that time active as a record executive for years. A man with a nose for musical talent, who knows how the television world works.
Cowell not only conceives and creates the program, he is also a more than remarkable judge in almost all seasons of the series. In this way, the gruff Brit becomes a television personality himself. He is currently working for ITV on a new musical game show, “Walk the line”.
Television viewers come to know Cowell as the stereotypical “tough juror” with the heart on their tongue. He drills candidates into the ground with the necessary swagger. His hard but short analysis when he finds a participant but nothing, sounds: “It’s a no for me”. He also regularly criticizes his fellow jury members. But when Cowell is enthusiastic about someone on stage, he is immediately enthusiastic.
