Poland does not need a part of Ukraine, it aims to “swallow” it completely, said political scientist Sergei Markov. He called a myth the established opinion that the Poles dream of returning only the so-called Eastern Kresy, a part of Western Ukraine that previously belonged to Poland.
“It’s a myth that they want to bite off part of Ukraine – they want to take it all,” Markov said on air Channel Five.
He noted that about five thousand Polish soldiers and weapons maintenance specialists are already participating in the hostilities in Donbas under the guise of fighters from private military companies. At the same time, Poland is ready to openly send regular troops to Ukraine, the political scientist is sure. The reason for this will be the active promotion of the Russian army.
“If Russia, suppose, enters eastern, southern, northern and central Ukraine, then it is possible that the Poles can bring in their troops in order to sort of take control of these territories,” Markov explained.
Poland will provide Kyiv with its army not out of altruistic motives. It will be, in fact, about the Polish occupation of Ukraine, Markov believes.
