“Gladiator II”, “Mission: Impossible – Fallout”, James Bond “No Time to Die”, “Fast and Furious: Hobbes and Shaw”, “Napoleon”, “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantum Mania”, “Tenet “, “The Eternals”, “Men in Black: Global Threat”, “Killer’s Bodyguard”, “The Courier”, cult series “Vikings”, “Birmingham Gang” – I could go on and on about this is a list of movies that have been a lot watching the big screens in the last ten years, without even realizing that Latvia is one of the actors of bloody stunts. How did a man from Viļanii get to the filming locations of big-budget movies?
Renars Latkovskis comes to talk to me at a rock climbing gym near London, where he trains at least once a week. There was kickboxing in the morning, swimming every day. The next training session is planned later in the evening, for about four hours a day. There are also massages, sauna, and cold baths, so that the body can recover as quickly as possible. And all this on a day off, when you don’t have to film.
“At the time, I was doing pole gymnastics, and by chance I got to train in the same gym where the British stuntmen were training,”
This is how Renars remembers the events of 12 years ago. “They do somersaults on the springboard and do different crazy things, circus performers and dancers from different shows come there. We started talking, and I wanted to know what stuntmen do, where you have to learn to be one. It turned out that there was. is an association in Great Britain called “The British Stunt Register” and to qualify you have to pass tests in six different subjects that you can choose from ten subjects I thought it was a good challenge it would be, it’s almost 30 years, and when else, if not now! no injuries and I really focused on it.”
