WASHINGTON – The top general of the United States (US), Mark Milley, said it would be very difficult to expel troops Russia from all over the region Ukraine . In his opinion, it would cost Kiev a lot of blood and treasure.

General Milley, who serves as Chairman of the American Joint Chiefs of Staff, believes that neither Russia nor Ukraine will be able to achieve their goals through military force.

The comments were submitted to the Eurasia Group Foundation in a podcast recently. He believed diplomats from various countries would be the ones who would finally end the Russo-Ukrainian war.

“At some point people will find out that the cost of continuing to wage this war through military means is very challenging,” he said.

“That doesn’t mean it can’t be done. And I applaud the will of the Ukrainians and their courage and resilience,” General Milley continued, as quoted from Business InsiderThursday (23/3/2023).

“But there is also a practical problem of physically expelling every Russian from all over Ukraine,” he said. “That’s very difficult to do militarily, and it’s a huge cost in blood and treasure.”

“And because of that, someone is going to figure out a way to get to the negotiating table, and that’s where this thing is going to be resolved in the end,” he added.

The US military commander’s remarks echo similar assessments he made during the 13-month Russia-Ukraine war.
