KONTAN.CO.ID – MOSCOW. Russian President Vladimir Putin said the successful test of the Tsirkon hypersonic missile was a major event for the whole country of red bears.

“The work on the Tsirkon system and the successful implementation phase of this missile test is a major event, not only for the Armed Forces but also for all of Russia, the whole country,” he said during a meeting with Chief of General Staff General Valery Gerasimov, Wednesday (7/10) .

“Because equipping our Armed Forces, soldiers and combat fleets, with sophisticated weapon systems, which have no competition in the world, ensures the defense capability of our country for the years to come,” Putin was quoted as saying by the TASS news agency.

Putin lauded “the great efforts of scientists, designers and talented workers and military specialists”. He said the Tsirkon hypersonic missile test was a “big stage in equipping the Russian Armed Forces with advanced systems”.

“I would like to congratulate all of you on this work and for its results, and express the hope that in the future all the specialists involved in retooling the Russian army will work as effectively and diligently as they have done so far,” he said.

On Tuesday, the frigate Gorshkov of Russia’s Northern Fleet fired a hypersonic Tsirkon missile that flew at speeds above Mach 8, and hit a sea target at a distance of 450 kilometers with a direct hit.
