Stade Rochelais lost 41-11 to Toulon on Saturday as part of the 15th day of the Top 14. Coach Ronan O’Gara expresses his disappointment.
Toulon won a bonus 41-11 victory against the Yellow and Black this Saturday at the Mayol stadium as part of the 15th day of the Top 14.
Franck Azéma’s men were able to win in the first period against the Maritimes, totally absent from the debates.
Toulonnais Louis Carbonel scored five penalties and three conversions while Paia’aua scored a try in the twentieth minute.
Toulon made the break in the first half with a score of 19 to 6 at the break.
In the second half, Les Jaunes et Noirs seemed to pull themselves together when Buliruarua reduced the score but Chelsin Kolbe showed his international class with a try in the 54th minute.
At the end of the meeting Aymeric Luc increases the bill with a score of 41 to 11.
The Maritimes are now in sixth place.
“It’s a big disappointment. The guys are touched. Tonight, it wasn’t our real face. It’s horrible to show that. If that’s our best representation, we’re in danger,” lamented Ronan O’Gara.
“It’s my fault because it was I who managed the group this week,” continued the Stade Rochelais coach who takes responsibility for this rout.
“It’s my fault because I managed the group this week. When you play in the Top 14, you have to know that aggression is the main point for an away game. We lack aggressiveness and after that it’s easy to understand the score. It’s really disappointing because we were accelerating after winning several matches.
With this group, I had good signals but in the end the result is not there. Maybe next Saturday, against Racing 92, the season is over. Everything starts from zero tonight. We find ourselves with a clean sheet with the staff and we will have to review the program for the next few weeks”.
