ITB Students at Faculty of Mining Engineering Offered Internships to Pay UKT

Liputan6.com, Jakarta – Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) students, especially students from the Faculty of Mining Engineering, can do internships and earn extra money to pay the Single Tuition Fee (UKT). This could be an alternative solution to the UKT polemic some time ago when the campus provided payments via an online loan platform (pinjol).

Executive Director of the Indonesian Rock Mining Association (ATBI) Wisnu Salman provided the opportunity for qualified Mining Engineering Faculty students to do internships at his company, PT Geo Mining Berkah (GMB). This ITB alumini said that the internship program at ATBI was open in 2020.

“To date, of the number of students who have done internships, there are around 20 students who have finally been accepted to work at PT GMB,” he said.

According to Wisnu, PT GMB also helps complete UKT payments for ITB students who are interns and are still completing their studies.

“Even though PT GMB is not yet a relatively large company, GMB can be a solution for students who are constrained by UKT payments or limited pocket money. Students who work can still receive a salary that is sufficient for a student,” said Wisnu.

The qualifications of students who are accepted to work at GMB include, among other things, having the status of a level III ITB student or female student and being considered reliable for creating work documents and processing mining permits. By working at GMB, they will also gain experience in making feasibility studies, understanding the preparation of Work Plan and Cost Budget (RKAB) certificates, reclamation plans, post-mining plans, UKL/UPL documents, liquid waste, B3 waste, permit applications and various other things.

When asked about the amount of UKT provided by PT GMB to ITB students who are working, Wisnu Salman emphasized that his party provides assistance of IDR 3 to 4 million per student per month. They do not immediately receive cash, but instead pay it directly to the campus.
