The Meloni government has preferred to use the resources available to cut the tax wedge, for lower wages and larger families
“In Italy we have the lowest industrial cost of petrol and diesel in Europe, much more than Germany, France and Spain”, Urso added to Republicarguing that Europe “should also play a leading role in the case of fuels. As happened for gas, when President Draghi proposed a price cap beyond which EU countries would no longer purchase the raw material, a measure then implemented with the Meloni government”.
As for the proposal to deal with excise duties, the minister reiterated his intention to dedicate those resources to tax cuts and other aid to businesses and households. “We want to make these measures structural. In this way we can help families in difficulty struggling with inflation and to give a stimulus to the production system through consumption”.
