An unprecedented protest in Italy. Everyone is rioting. On International Women’s Day in Italy, a nationwide 24-hour strike has been announced in the public and private sectors. It is organized by all trade unions.
In education, the protest is from kindergartens to universities.
In healthcare, minimum services and emergency departments are guaranteed. As the law prohibits a strike by all modes of transport on one day, in rail, it is from midnight to 9 pm local time, while urban and other modes of transport will not strike. This does not apply to highway operators, also participating in the protest.
Firefighters, public offices, museums and libraries are also dissatisfied. In Rome, a rally of women’s associations was organized at the ancient Roman stadium “Circo Massimo”, which “invites women to a general mobilization against patriarchal violence in all its forms”.
The national protest is also about protecting women’s rights in the labor sector, for gender equality and equal pay, which are still not a reality for the country. The requests are also for improving working conditions, against wars and military expenses, BNR reported.
