  • Italy registered 142 new deaths due to COVID-19 today, compared to 81 the day before, Reuters reported, citing data from the Ministry of Health.

    The daily number of infected people increased to 30,810, compared to 24,883 the previous day.

    The country has registered a total of 136,753 deaths related to COVID-19 since the outbreak in its territory in February last year. It is the second highest number in Europe after Great Britain, which ranks it 9th in the world.

    The number of cases in the country is 5.68 million.

    The number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 reached 9,723 today, compared to 9,220 yesterday. These figures do not include those in intensive care units, whose number has increased to 1126, compared to the previous 1089.
