Italy qualified for the second round of the European Championships

Italy beat Switzerland 3-0 in the second day of the group stage of the European Football Championships. Thanks to the victory – the second in a row with three goals scored and none conceded – she is certain of qualifying for the round of 16 with one round to spare: Sunday night’s match against Wales will only serve to establish order in the Group A standings.

At the Olimpico in Rome, still open to 15 thousand spectators, Italy controlled the first half by maintaining possession for a long time and continuously pressing Switzerland. On the twentieth, a goal against Giorgio Chiellini was canceled for hand ball; six minutes later Manuel Locatelli scored the lead at the end of an action he started with a throw in midfield, and ended with an assist from Domenico Berardi.

In the opening minutes of the second half, Locatelli scored again, with a shot from the edge of the area. From then on, Switzerland tried to react, thus giving more space to Italy, who scored the third goal of the match with Ciro Immobile two minutes from the ninetieth.
