Rome, May 31 (EFE) .- Italy today launched “Itsart”, a digital platform promoted by the Ministry of Culture with which it will offer the world works of cinema, theater, dance, music and exhibitions, among other things, with contents both paid and free.

It is about the already known as “Italian Netflix” and it is a bet of the head of Culture, Dario Franceschini, who has had the collaboration of the public bank Cassa Depositi e Prestiti.

The minister celebrated the launch of this platform, which, he said, takes advantage of “the extraordinary potential of the network” to show the world the jewels of Italian culture.

“Itsart” is, in his opinion, “a new way” of offering the world cinema, theater, dance and Italian music, as well as tours of the most important exhibitions and museums in the country, although he assured that this experience “online” will not be able to “never” replace a royal visit.

The platform includes a catalog with more than seven hundred contents, some free and others paid, but after registration.

The “Great Italian Cinema” section offers a selection of some of the most renowned films in the history of the country, signed by masters such as Luchino Visconti, Federico Fellini or Vittorio De Sica.

Divided by genre and year of publication, the user will be able to see films like “Ieri, Oggi e domani” (“Yesterday, today and tomorrow”, 1963 ) by De Sica, “Roma cittá aperta” (“Rome, open city”, 1945) by Roberto Rosselini or “Una giornata particolare” (“A particular journey”, 1977) by Ettore Scola.

But not everything is classic cinema. “Itsart” has a “box” section that will allow you to enjoy live concerts, but also shows in its temples of lyrical and dance, such as La Scala in Milan, the San Carlos Theater in Naples or the Opera in Rome.

The user can also enter the corridors of the Egyptian Museum in Turin (north of the country), considered the richest in the world on this culture after Cairo, or browse the ruins of Pompeii through a series of free documentaries.

The documentary genre is precisely one of its great attractions. In the section “Stories from Italy” there are films about the baroque painter Artemisia Gentileschi, about the anonymous writer Elena Ferrante, about Caravaggio, Sophia Loren or about the astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti. EFE
