Italy’s emergency services continue to fight hundreds of wildfires in various parts of the country. Assistance has been requested from the Calabria region in the south of the country, from Lazio, where Rome is located, and from the islands of Sicily and Sardinia.
Both the plane and the firefighters on the ground fight the flames, but everything is complicated by hot weather, drought and strong winds.
Hundreds of people were forced to leave their homes due to the threat of fire and do not yet know when they will be able to return.
The responsible services indicated that most of the fires were caused by negligence or abuse.
On the resort island of Sardinia, fires have been raging since last weekend, causing extensive damage and loss of millions of euros.
