The new phase began on February 6
A new phase of explosion began in Etna on February 6, 2025, after about three months of variable activity after the last lava fountain event on November 10, 2024.
The width of the volcanic vibration was on a medium-level level until the night of February 4, then increased to a medium-high level on 5 February, remaining fixed for the rest of the week.
On February 8, a diffusing phase began from a slit at the base of the Bocca Nuova crater, at an altitude of about 3,050 m (10,000 feet) above the surface of the sea, creating a lava flow that proceeded south to Mount Frumento Supino.
By February 11, the flow of lava had reached a length of 2,600 m (8,530 feet), with the most advanced front at an altitude of 2,200 m (7,200 feet).
