Italy due to corona without Napoli players against Orange in Nations League | NOW

Italy will take it later this month without players from Napoli against, among others, the Dutch national team in the Nations League. National coach Roberto Mancini has left them out of the selection because the club has been affected by the corona virus.

Attacker Lorenzo Insigne, defender Giovanni Di Lorenzo and reserve goalkeeper Alex Meret do not have to report to the national team. The three were still part of the selection last month.

Earlier this week, Polish midfielder Piotr Zielinski and a staff member were tested positive for the corona virus at Napoli. The Neapolitans played in-house against Genoa last week, where no fewer than nineteen players and staff members now have the virus.

For that reason, Saturday’s league game between Genoa and Torino has been canceled. Napoli will just visit Juventus on Sunday, but logically has to do without Zielinski and the relevant staff member.

Hellas Verona goalkeeper Marco Silvestri makes his debut in the selection of Italy. Angelo Ogbonna (West Ham United), Manuel Lazzari (Lazio) and Domenico Berardi (Sassuolo) return after a long absence and Lorenzo Pellegrini (AS Roma) is back after a nose operation.

Italy first practices against Moldova (in Florence) on Wednesday and then continues the Nations League with a game against Poland (October 11 in Gdanks) and a home game against the Netherlands (October 14 in Milan). The Italians won the first meeting with the Orange in Amsterdam with 0-1.
