The Italian Ministry of Justice called on the Brazilian government to implement a nine-year prison sentence against former player Robinho, whom the Brazilian authorities previously refused to extradite to Italy on charges of sexually assaulting a girl while he was playing in Milan.
On January 18, 2022, the Italian Supreme Court confirmed the sentence issued against former Brazilian international star Robinho to 9 years in prison for raping a woman in 2013, when he was a player in Milan.
Robinho, 38, did not attend any of the court sessions in the case, and was one of six accused of participating in the gang rape of an Albanian woman who happened to be celebrating her 23rd birthday in a nightclub in Milan.
