Italy: a man tried to evade vaccination by receiving the injection in a fake silicone arm | International

A 50-year-old Italian from the Piedmont region, who wanted to obtain an anticovid passport without being vaccinated, unsuccessfully tried to have the vaccine injected into a fake silicone arm, local authorities reported this Friday.

“The case is almost ridiculous, if it were not for the fact that we are talking about a gesture of enormous gravity, unacceptable given the sacrifice that the pandemic is making our entire community pay, in terms of human lives and social and economic costs ”, the president of the Piedmont region (northwest), Alberto Cirio, lamented on Facebook.

The man in question showed up Thursday night at a vaccination center in the Piedmont city of Biella with the idea of misleading health workers.

The prosthesis was very well made, but the color and the sensation to the touch immediately aroused the suspicions of the nurse in charge of administering the vaccine, who asked him to remove his shirt, thus discovering his deception.

She then asked the nurse to act as if she hadn’t seen anything, which she refused to do, so she tipped off her colleagues, who were stunned.

“He will have to answer to justice,” said Cirio.

Italy is currently facing a new outbreak of the pandemic: almost 17,000 new cases were registered in the last 24 hours.

Currently about 85% of those over 12 years of age have been vaccinated. And as of Monday, the so-called “super health passport” must be presented, which is granted to people vaccinated or who have overcome covid-19, with which they can go to the cinema, theater or restaurant.

The simple health passport can be obtained by conducting a simple antigen test, essentially allowing access to the workplace.
