A 17-year-old confessed on Sunday to killing his father, mother and 12-year-old brother at their home in Panterno Duniano near Milan, Italian police sources said.
After a long interrogation, the teenager changed his previous version of events, saying that he killed not only his father but his entire family, according to the ANSA agency.
The teenager called 112 in the early hours of Sunday morning saying he had murdered his father after the man had stabbed his mother and 12-year-old brother to death in their home. He said he woke up after hearing his mother and brother screaming and walked into the room to find his father with a knife in his hand next to their bodies in the family’s apartment.

The teenager said he then took the knife from his father’s hands and killed him, before confessing to allegedly carrying out all three murders himself. Investigators found discrepancies in the boy’s version of events, noting for example that he had no marks on his body from a fight with his father.
The killings happened around 1 a.m., investigative sources said.
According to Italian media, the family of four on Saturday night celebrated the father’s 51st birthday with relatives.
